Qi Pao

This is a reconstruction of an ancient Chinese garment. It is the two foundation garments that lead to the development of the modern qi pao, known as sam and fu. These garments are constructed to replicate those worn by the lower class workers (coolies, or ku li) in ancient China.

Traditional techniques and methods were researched and applied when possible in the making of this garment. All parts, including the toggle closures were made an sewn together with a combination of hand and machine.

It was selected to be on display at the Textile Museum of Canada.
